Robert Ellis Keysor

Tonight, we adjourn in memory of a wonderful man and dear friend, Robert Ellis Keysor.

Robert was born in 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah and was one of three children.

His sister is community member Kathy Kellar, wife of former Mayor and Santa Clarita City Councilmember Bob Kellar.

During his senior year of high school, Robert and the Keysor family moved from Utah to Burbank.

After graduation, Robert attended BYU before being called to a mission for the Chuch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Keysor was also a veteran, serving as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1956 during the Korean War.

In 1956, Robert married his high school sweetheart Barbara Zell Keysor and went on to have nine children and a marriage that spanned 67 years.

Robert worked and ran the family business, Keysor Century Corporation, a business in vinyl record production in Saugus, California until he retired in 2001.

Robert went on to be a consultant for many businesses and enjoyed reading, researching, genealolgy and BYU sports.

As a resident of Santa Clarita, Robert dedicated much of his time to volunteer work and philanthropy.

Robert was a founding board member of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, served as area chairman of the United Way Santa Clarita campaign, was the Hart District Chairman of the Boy Scouts of America, board member of the Michael Hoefflin Foundation and a trustee for 12 years on the Sulphur Springs Union School District board.

He was also a long-time board member and president of the Santa Clarita Valley Boys and Girls Club.

In 1987, Robert was nominated for the Southern California National “Philanthropist of the Year” award for having donated more than 25,000 hours of community service.

In 1989, Robert was named Santa Clarita Valley Man of the Year.

Robert is survived by his wife, nine children, 33 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

We will forever appreciate the positive impact Robert made on our community, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time.
