Jeff Wheeler

Tonight, I would like to adjourn in memory of Jeff Wheeler, a man who spent his career working to create opportunities for others and enhance the quality of life we enjoy in Santa Clarita.

Jeff was a member of the City’s very first Parks Commission from 1988 to 1996.

He worked for Los Angeles County for 33 years, finishing his career as the Parks Department’s Deputy Director for the North Region.

While with the County, Jeff was in charge of developing programs and activities at Santa Clarita Park and was also on hand for the grand opening of Old Orchard County Park in 1968.

When Santa Clarita incorporated in 1987 and County parks were transferred to the City, Jeff served as a Parks Commissioner.

As a Commissioner, Jeff played a role in the City’s process of building:

  • Begonias Lane Park
  • Canyon Country Park
  • and Northbridge Park

Jeff will always be a member of Santa Clarita’s Founding Family.

We are deeply saddened by his passing and our hearts are with his wife, Carole, and their extended family and friends.
