We want to adjourn tonight’s meeting in memory of a man who has brought joy and the holiday spirit to our community for more than three decades.
Al Hodek, better known as Santa Al has made appearances as Jolly Old Saint Nick for 30 years throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
Some of his very first appearances were at our own Primetime Preschool Classes.
In addition to spreading joy to hundreds of preschoolers each holiday season, Santa Al and Mrs. Claus also made regular appearances flying down Main Street in his turbo sleigh for the 4th of July parade and kicking off the holiday season at Light Up Main Street in Old Town Newhall.
One of our City’s most popular holiday events was created in collaboration with Santa Al.
Breakfast with Santa has become an annual tradition that regularly sells out.
The City will carry on this beloved tradition in his memory for years to come.
Up until his passing on August 16, Santa Al continued to spread holiday cheer all year round to our residents and his cherished memory will live on.
Al was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and of course, Santa Clarita’s very own Santa.
He brought holiday spirit and Christmas joy to thousands and thousands of children and families over the years, and will be greatly missed.
