I would like to adjourn tonight in memory of Ed Bolden, a pioneer and friend to all who was instrumental in the development of the Santa Clarita Valley as we know it.
Ed passed away last week at the age of 94 years young.
He was a longtime philanthropist and volunteer in Santa Clarita, serving our community through his work with the Boys & Girls Club, the Rotary Club, Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers and more.
Ed was an active member of his church in Newhall as well.
For his service to the community, Ed was named Santa Clarita Valley’s Man of the Year in 1970.
In addition to being involved with the Boys & Girls Club when it was new in Santa Clarita, Ed was also president of the board for Samuel Dixon and was key in helping the non-profit expand its services to three locations.
In his professional life, Ed was the founder of Andel Engineering and came to Santa Clarita in the 1960s.
Many of the early property maps for developments in our Valley bear his signature – he truly helped create the Santa Clarita we know and love today.
He will be remembered for his commitment to serving others, as well as his kindness and wisdom.
We are all saddened by Ed’s passing and our thoughts are with his friends and family.
