Tonight, I would like to adjourn in memory of a lifelong Newhall resident—Michael Jauregui.
Michael was the first-born son to famed western stuntman and actor, Ed Jauregui and Mary Percivalle Jauregui.
His family heritage spans back to the early days of Newhall.
Michael graduated from Hart High School and played football at Pierce College, while later attending the University of Utah on scholarship, majoring in History.
Michael was also a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force and one of the first members of the Mounted Patrol Unit in the LAPD, serving an honorable 20-years on the force.
After retiring from LAPD, Michael used his civil engineering and architect skills from Caltrans to establish his own company, Jauregui Engineering.
Michael was not only an avid reader, but also a talented pilot, enjoying many years of service and camaraderie with the Condor Squadron, flying his AT-6 “Texan” plane.
Earlier this month, Michael passed away at the age of 83 surrounded by his loving family and friends.
His sense of humor, detailed stories, devotion to family and his signature polished black boots will be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
