Tonight we will adjourn our City Council meeting in honor of James Osment, a long-time Santa Clarita resident and an active member of our community.
Jim, as he was known, served as President of William S. Hart Boys’ Baseball and the SCV Ham Radio Club.
He also coached and managed local Pop Warner Football, and was a member of the Masonic Community for many years.
But those are just a few of Jim’s many contributions to our community.
Jim graduated from Long Beach State in 1961 and married his sweetheart, Andie, shortly after. They moved their family to Saugus in 1966, and Jim remained actively involved in Santa Clarita for the next 50 years.
One of Jim’s greatest accomplishments, however, was his family. He was also an incredible husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Jim passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25 at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. He was 76 years old.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, as well as his sons Brad and Mike, his daughter Michelle, two granddaughters, as well as his mother Portia and sister, Connie.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jim’s family during this difficult time. Though he may have left us, his legacy here in Santa Clarita will live on forever.
