Tonight, I would like to adjourn in memory of a longtime resident, beloved community member and educational advocate for the past 60 years, Michele Jenkins.
Michele most notably served on the College of the Canyons governing Board of Trustees for the past 40 years, dedicating her life to the educational opportunities and growth for students in Santa Clarita.
Starting her time as a C-O-C student at the Hart High School Campus in 1969, Michele progressed through her career and served as a member of the California Community College Trustees Board of Directors for eleven years, helped establish the Santa Clarita Valley chapter of the League of Women Voters, as well as launch the local branch of the American Association of University Women.
Michele was not only a devoted resident, but was passionate about providing our community members with resources to help them pursue their education, as well as volunteer their time to nonprofits across the City.
We are thankful for the impact and the long-lasting legacy that Michele has left on our community.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time.
