Tonight I would like to adjourn in memory of Gloria Donnelly, a very dear friend and a woman who played a crucial role in creating the City of Santa Clarita which we know and love today.
Glo passed away recently, leaving a hole in our hearts and a void in our lives.
You may have come into contact with Glo or hired her as your realtor when buying or selling your home in Santa Clarita.
If you didn’t know her personally, you certainly benefitted from her work with, and service to, a number of organizations in Santa Clarita.
Over the years, Glo served as spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Association of Realtors and was the Chair of the Whittaker-Bermite Citizens Advisory Group under SCOPE – the Santa Clarita Organization for Planning and the Environment.
With the Whittaker-Bermite Citizens Advisory Group, Glo ensured residents’ voices are heard and that people can actively participate in the decision-making process surrounding the site’s cleanup.
She also deserves our unending appreciation and gratitude for the role she played in the formation of our great City.
Along with her husband, Art, Glo served as a co-chair of the Santa Clarita City Formation Committee.
During the campaign to get cityhood on the ballot in 1987, Glo and Art were essential in raising funds and gaining support for the creation of the City of Santa Clarita.
We will greatly miss Glo – and the legacy that she and Art left in our City – and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.
