Myrna Condie

Tonight, it is with profound sadness that we adjourn this meeting in memory of a remarkable member of our community, Myrna Condie.

Myrna was a devoted educator, an accomplished seamstress and a passionate community leader whose contributions to Santa Clarita will have a lasting impact.

Myrna was a proud graduate of California State University, Northridge, whose love for learning began at College of the Canyons, where she took classes that enriched her life and career.

She went on to teach Advanced Sewing and Textile Science at several institutions, including Santa Monica College and Pierce College.

Her expertise in costume design led her to work in the costume department at Cal Arts, and in recognition of her achievements, College of the Canyons named the costume shop at the Performing Arts Center in her honor: the Myrna R. Condie Costume Shop.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Myrna was a tireless advocate for Santa Clarita.

She was a founder of the SCV Festival of Trees and a co-founder of the Boys and Girls Club of SCV Foundation, dedicating countless hours to improving the lives of young people.

She also played a significant role in supporting College of the Canyons, serving in leadership positions for the Silver Spur Celebration, Circle of Friends Committee and the COC Foundation Board of Directors.

Myrna’s dedication to service was recognized with numerous accolades, including the 2012 SCV Woman of the Year Award, the 2010 COC Silver Spur Award and the 2009 California Mother of the Year Award.

Her impact on the community was profound, and her commitment to service was unmatched.

Myrna’s resilience, talent and heart for service leaves an enduring legacy in Santa Clarita.

Her work and generosity have touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed.
