Allen Hohnroth

Tonight, it is with a heavy heart that we adjourn this meeting in memory of an amazing man, Allen Hohnroth.

Allen was born and raised on a farm in Nebraska, where his love of animals and nature began.

Allen served as class president at Nebraska City High School, as well as president of the Future Farmers of America.

Upon graduation, Allen enlisted in the National Guard and upon his honorable discharge started his career as an On-Air Radio personality.

He had a long career in Hollywood, eventually opening up his own post production company – Outlaw Sound in 1984.

He worked on sound for radio and TV commercials, including Superbowl Sunday ads like, the famous California Grapes “Heard It Through the Grapevine.”

Allen worked with many Hollywood personalities including: May West, George Burns, Charlton Heston, Roy Rogers, Jim Garner, Drew Carey, Bob Newhart, Buddy Hackett, Racquel Welsh, and Casey Kasem, just to name a few.

Allen was the beloved husband of our former Planning Commissioner Renee Berlin.

They met in 1984 and would have celebrated 41 years of loving, supporting and being there for each other next month.

Allen’s love of wildlife conservation was instrumental in helping to support and protect our local habitat here in Santa Clarita.

He was an avid supporter of the nonprofits the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation and Carousel Ranch, dedicating his time and money to their cause.

Allen is survived by his wife Renee, and their fur babies Alvin, Simon, and Theodore.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Allen’s friends and family during this difficult time.
