Tonight, I would like to adjourn in the memory of Steven Zimmer, a man whose dedication to the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding communities left an indelible mark.
Steve was not only an attorney, philanthropist and former school board member, but also a visionary leader who played a pivotal role in shaping Santa Clarita, as we know it today.
In 1999, he served as the vice president of The Newhall Land and Farming Co., now FivePoint Valencia – where he led the Newhall Ranch development and contributed significantly to the planning and expansion of Valencia.
His commitment to sustainable development and innovative community planning is evident in the new community west of our City, which stands as a testament to his foresight and dedication.
Beyond his career in development, Steve had a deep commitment to giving back to his community.
He was actively involved in numerous nonprofit boards, including the College of the Canyons Foundation and the Child & Family Center.
Steve’s life was one of meaningful impact, marked by his love for his family, his commitment to Santa Clarita and his passion for creating spaces and communities.
We are deeply saddened by his passing and our hearts are with his devoted wife Doris, his family and all those who had the privilege to work alongside him and call him a friend.
