Tonight, I would like to adjourn in memory of Nancy Coulter, a woman whose presence and dedication left an enduring mark on the City of Santa Clarita.
Nancy was deeply involved in local organizations that benefitted from her leadership and passion.
She served the Santa Clarita Valley Cancer Society with relentless commitment, inspired by her daughter Heather, who courageously fought a 19-year battle with breast cancer before passing away in 2013.
As Nancy once said, “My daughter, Heather, has always been my inspiration to work for a cancer-free world.”
This profound motivation led Nancy to accomplish many milestones in cancer advocacy, including the first-ever SCV Cancer Survivor Day in June 2017 at Valencia’s Real Life Church – a celebration she and Heather had envisioned for years.
In addition to her work with the SCV Cancer Society, Nancy played key roles in the SCV Jazz ‘n Blues Fundraisers, the Chamber of Commerce Health Committee and the Valley Industrial Association.
Her tireless efforts earned her the title of SCV Woman of the Year in 2009, and in 2017 she was recognized with the American Cancer Society’s California Division Lifetime Achievement Award.
Nancy’s contributions to our City extended far beyond her professional achievements.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, known for her warmth, generosity and dedication to others.
Her legacy will continue to inspire us and has undoubtedly left a lasting impression within our community.
We are deeply saddened by Nancy’s passing and our hearts are with her family.
