Tonight, I would like to adjourn in the memory of Robert “Bob” Slocum, a remarkable and beloved man who gave so much to the City of Santa Clarita.
Bob was born in Glendale, California, in 1954.
He graduated from Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley and went on to attend Glendale City College.
He married his beloved wife Kay in 1977.
He had a long career with Pacific Telephone and AT&T for over 25 years.
Bob was a dedicated supporter and treasurer of the Santa Clarita Valley Veterans Memorial Committee, always offering his services in any way needed.
In addition to his role in the committee, Bob was a cherished member of the NorthPark Community Church for over 25 years.
After the passing of his son, Ricky, a United States Marine who died in 2004 while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Bob became the unofficial head of the Gold Star Families in Santa Clarita.
His dedication, warmth and generosity made him deeply loved by all who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed.
We are deeply saddened by Bob’s passing, and our hearts are with his family.
