It is with profound sadness that I adjourn tonight’s meeting in memory of Mike Levison, a friend to many of us in Santa Clarita and a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran who sadly passed away earlier this month.
Mike moved to Sand Canyon in the early 1980’s where he owned a ranch that he called 13 Oaks.
Mike was a very active person in our community and was instrumental in our trail systems in Santa Clarita, having mapped out many of our open space trails on his motorcycle.
Mike spearheaded the initiative, both with the City and our neighborhood, to get our Sand Canyon trail started.
His dedication was evident as he went door to door to secure easements for the trail, leaving a lasting impact on our community and its outdoor spaces.
He was not only a strong community member and leader but also served on the Sand Canyon HOA board for years.
His dedication and leadership extended beyond recreational pursuits to actively improving our neighborhood and fostering a sense of unity among residents.
He leaves behind a legacy cherished by his two children; one sadly deceased, and the other living with his family in the Bay Area.
Additionally, he is survived by loving grandchildren who will continue to carry his spirit forward.
His contributions to our community will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
We are saddened by Mike’s passing, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
