Tonight, I would like to adjourn in memory of a remarkable woman, Barbara “Bobby” Stone.
Bobby, a 102-year-old United States Marine Corps World War II Veteran, passed away peacefully in her sleep last week.
Just weeks ago, we had the profound privilege of honoring her and 24 of her fellow female service members on Memorial Day at our annual event at Eternal Valley in Newhall.
This year’s theme, “Women in the U.S. Military,” highlighted the invaluable contributions of women from the country’s inception, to the present day.
Her pride in her service was unmistakable, and it was an honor for us to acknowledge her bravery and dedication.
Bobby’s life was a testament to courage and resilience.
As a World War II Veteran, she not only served her country with distinction but also paved the way for future generations of women in the military.
Her legacy is one of strength, service and an unwavering commitment to her nation.
Those of us who had the honor of meeting Bobby will miss her greatly.
Her story and spirit will continue to inspire us, reminding us of the sacrifices made by so many to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today.
Let us take a moment to remember Barbara “Bobby” Stone and all that she stood for.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Bobby’s family during this difficult time.
