John Grannis

Tonight, I would like to adjourn in memory of a cherished community member, John Grannis.

Born in Lima, Ohio, John moved to California in 1979 and practiced law over the next 40 years in Sacramento and Los Angeles.

John raised his son and stepson in Santa Clarita and was also devoted to his faith, teaching Sunday school classes at our local Valencia United Methodist Church and the Newhall Church of the Nazarene.

John was also a former partner of the local law firm Poole and Shaffery here in Santa Clarita.

In 2017, John met the love of his life Linda, and they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho in 2018 and later married in 2019.

In Twin Falls, John taught in the local school districts as a coach for speech and debate – perfect with his lifetime career as a lawyer.

However, John was also passionate about teaching special needs students and did so until 2022.

As a voracious reader and lifelong learner with a passion for history, John enjoyed watching old movies and spending time with his wife and their family of three dogs and three cats.

We are thankful for the positive impact that John left here in our community and in Twin Falls.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
