Olga

Tonight, we adjourn in honor of a remarkable lady who passed away this month. She was born in Europe in 1947. During this time, Europe was war-torn and extremely difficult. Olga had two sisters, Irene and Mary Ann. They came to America in a cargo ship and it took 30 days. Olga grew up in Pittsburg. She studied hard and was driven all her life to constantly achieve. She held several degrees. She received her Bachelors of the Arts in Communication Electronic Media Program and Production.

Olga was very an accomplished artist. She created Fabergé jeweled painted eggs – a Russian art form and was very beautiful and very difficult. Olga could draw, sketch, and paint anything – drawing horses, cats, dogs, and portraits of family and friends. Olga used timeless tools such as graphite, charcoal, oils, pastels, colored pencils, and water color.

Olga loved horses so she came to California and bought her ranch in Newhall in the 1980’s. Here she has resided for 45 years. Olga gave a great deal of her time and talent to the Santa Clarita Valley Artist Association and left all of her completed art to this association. Olga participated in the Fourth of July parade, riding her horse. Olga made all her own costumes – another form of art for her! I believe Olga’s favorite thing was her horse, Murphy. Olga created a computer-generated famine-genocide poster that have been shown throughout the United States, Canada, Ukraine, France, Australia, and United Kingdom. In 2007 and 2008, her art was used to promote a family and book on the Ukrainian genocide of 1932. She founded an International website to unite relatives and friends lost after World War II. This was a strong, patriotic, and talented woman.

She did good in this community. She will be missed by hundreds of friends. To her sisters and friends, we were blessed to have had her here in Santa Clarita. I want to thank her neighbors on Alderbrook Drive who came and helped her sisters. They were very kind and shouldn’t go unnoticed. Many thanks to the SCV Artist Association for there support of Olga and her sisters. We will miss her!
