I would like to adjourn tonight’s meeting in memory of Jerry Gladbach, a resident of Santa Clarita for more than 50 years and a longtime public servant who passed away in July.
Jerry was a longtime board member and vice president of the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency.
He held both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia and had a long and storied career with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, which included research, planning, governmental and public relations, environmental compliance and other assignments.
Jerry was elected to the board of the Castaic Lake Water Agency in 1985, which joined with the Newhall County Water District to create SCV Water in 2018.
Over the years, he was also an active member of state and national water organizations, using his expertise to navigate complex issues for the benefit of residents.
In addition to SCV Water, Jerry served on the board of the National Water Resources Association and was the President of the board of directors of the Association of California Water Agencies.
His leadership, passion and dedication will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with his wife Donna, as well as their three children and six grandchildren.
