I would like to adjourn tonight’s meeting in memory of Judy Belue, a former community leader in Santa Clarita who recently passed away.
Originally from Tennessee, Judy moved to Santa Clarita and immediately went to work on improving the lives of all she came in contact with.
In the early 1990s, Judy began working as a fundraising professional with the Boys and Girls Club of SCV.
In that role, she was instrumental in enabling the Boys and Girls Club to achieve its mission of helping Santa Clarita youth reach their full potential by supporting academic success and building leaders.
In 2000, Judy was named the Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of SCV Foundation – a position she held until 2007.
In 2006, Judy’s daughter, son and daughter-in-law relocated to the Midwest.
And so, the next year, she followed her family and eventually moved to Mississippi.
Moving back across the country did not slow Judy down, however.
She continued to better the lives of her neighbors and took on the role of Regional Health Director for the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi.
For the past 11 years, Judy was the Executive Director of the Delta Fresh Foods Initiative, an organization that works to improve health by building equitable and sustainable community-based food systems.
No matter where life took her, Judy made it her mission to serves others, and we are thankful that her life’s journey brought her to Santa Clarita.
Our thoughts are with Judy’s family and friends during this difficult time.
