I would like to adjourn tonight’s meeting in memory of Mary Catherine White, a longtime community leader and Santa Clarita resident who passed away last month at the age of 90.
Mary was born in 1930 in Newton, Massachusetts.
She and her husband, Walt, moved from Massachusetts to Long Beach in the 1950s and eventually settled in Canyon Country with their six children in 1965.
Mary and Walt were blessed to be married for more than 57 years before his passing in 2010.
Mary was an accountant and worked for Newhall Land and Farm for many years.
Additionally, she was extremely active as a volunteer in our community and held leadership positions in the PTA, Little League, Elks Lodge Camper Club, Women of the Moose and the VFW.
Mary was known for her infectious laugh and sharp wit, as well as for her dedication to her family and the community.
In addition to six children, Mary has 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way.
Outside of working and volunteering, she enjoyed dancing with Walt, camping and spending quality time with those she loved.
We are saddened to lose Mary and our hearts are with her daughter, sons, grandchildren and all those who knew her during this difficult time.
