I would like to adjourn tonight’s meeting in memory of Jo Ann Rodriguez, a beloved member of the Zonta family who passed away on October 25, following a long battle with COPD.
Jo Ann joined Zonta in 1999 and had a passion for the organization’s mission of improving and empowering the lives of women and girls, both locally and internationally.
She served as Zonta president twice and held every leadership role in the Santa Clarita club, including being named Zontian of the Year.
Jo Ann was also the Parliamentarian Extraordinaire.
She was married to her wonderful husband – Commander Don Rodriguez – who served as the leader of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and also Commander of Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic.
While Jo Ann loved theatre, traveling and being involved with Zonta – she loved Don and her family most of all.
We are saddened by Jo Ann’s passing, and our thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time.
