I would like to take a few moments to adjourn tonight in memory of Mark Stephen McMullen, a longtime Santa Clarita resident who passed away suddenly in his home in Bradley, California, last month.
Mark was born in Salina, Kansas in 1950, moved to California when he was just 9 months old, and never left. After living in Granada Hills, he moved to Santa Clarita in 1976 where he had a very successful career as a landscape contractor.
Mark led McMullen Landscaping for 40 years, served as President of the California Landscape Contractors Association chapter in Palmdale, and was also the President of the Castaic Chamber of Commerce.
Mark retired in 2016 and he and his wife Peggy moved north to a home at Lake Nacimiento in Bradley. This doesn’t mean Mark was any less involved in his new community than he was here in Santa Clarita.
In the past two years, Mark served on the Board of Directors for his community, as well as a variety of committees. He also volunteered to routinely check on the community’s firetrucks to ensure they were ready to protect residents in case of an emergency.
Mark loved cars and was active with Vintage Corvettes of Southern California. He also enjoyed his time out on the lake, wine tasting, and spending time with his family and friends.
Our thoughts are with Mark’s wife, Peggy, their daughter Katie, grandchildren Sadie and Grant, and all of his extended family and friends as they mourn this loss.
