I’d like to adjourn tonight in memory of Ron Horn, who passed away on January 19 at the age of 82.
Ron was born in 1935 on the Horn family farm in Iowa, where he grew up before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Four years after enlisting, Ron met and married a fellow marine, Nancy Archibald, in 1957 at Camp Pendleton.
Following his service in the Marine Corps, Ron did some construction work in Oregon before attending El Camino College and later Cal State Los Angeles. It was at Cal State LA where Ron began his long career in engineering, working for the same company since he graduated in 1962.
Ron loved working on complex engineering projects and was known for his attention to detail and ensuring his clients had everything they needed. Over the years, Ron worked his way up to Executive Vice President and co-owner.
Ron was also a member of the fundraising board at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and was a lifelong philanthropist. For his generosity, he was honored by the City of Los Angeles.
He was the Engineer in Charge of a number of projects in the Santa Clarita Valley, including the Valencia Town Center, Center Point, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, The Hilton, Plum Canyon and much more.
He was also a devoted family man. He was married to the love of his life, Donna, for 28 years and the couple enjoyed dancing, traveling and visiting with their children and grandchildren.
We are saddened by the passing of Ron Horn. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this time.
