I’d like to adjourn tonight in memory of Dennis Marazzito, a longtime resident of Canyon Country, who passed away on November 13th after a battle with heart disease.
Dennis and his family came to Canyon Country from New Jersey, where he was born, more than 50 years ago. While many will know Dennis and his wife Rose as the owners of The Drifters bar on Soledad Canyon Road, his family, friends and customers will remember him as a kind and caring man who always put the needs of others first.
Dennis graduated from Hart High School and afterwards joined the United States Marines. He also firmly believed that no person should be alone or go hungry on a holiday, and he dedicated his time to making this a reality.
Those that know The Drifters establishment know that Dennis and Rose put out barrels to collect toy donations, which always fill to the top. In addition, each holiday they serve free meals to members of the community.
Dennis and Rose also raise money each year to help purchase and donate 10 to 20 bicycles for children in need.
We will all greatly miss Dennis, and our thoughts are with his wife Rose, his children Dennis, Joey, Sheri, Angela, Barbara Ann, and Jessica, his 11 grandchildren, his four siblings and the entire Marazzito family during this difficult time.
