Now I’d like to adjourn tonight’s meeting in memory of Evelyn Joyce Ziegenfuss, a dear member of our community who called the Santa Clarita Valley home for the last 60 years and passed away on July 12th at the age of 84.
Evelyn was very active in life, serving as the president of the Santa Clarita Valley chapter of the Questers. She and her husband Richard were avid campers for many years and Evelyn loved collecting Native American pottery, Frankoma pottery and Josef Originals, among others.
One of her favorite things to do was sit with friends, family, or just about anyone and talk about the early days of Santa Clarita. She had a long history of being involved in the growth of our City.
In the 1970s Evelyn worked at Electrol, which was one of the first companies to set up in the industrial center. She later moved on to work for the first TV cable company in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The thing she loved most in life was her family. She and her husband Richard, who is a WWII veteran, would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year.
Our thoughts are with Evelyn’s family, including her husband Richard, their daughters Gail, Debra and Shelley and their spouses, as well as her nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren during this difficult time. We will all miss her very much.
