We adjourn tonight’s meeting in memory of community member and friend, Joshua Donald Seibert.
Josh was raised in Canyon Country by his parents, Don and Kim, and was an active member of the church as a young boy, particularly at Church of the Canyons. Growing up, Josh loved horseback riding, snowboarding, hiking, camping, surfing, skateboarding, fishing and playing guitar.
As a teenager, he started a Christian punk rock band before becoming a cowboy poet in his early 20s. In addition to performing at various venues around town, Josh was also an integral part of the Cowboy Festival here in Santa Clarita.
He graduated with a degree in History from Cal State Northridge in 2004 and received his teaching credential, educating high school and junior high history students. During this time in his life, he felt his calling to pursue ministry full time and enrolled at the Master’s Seminary. After graduating, Josh became the Youth Director at Church of the Canyons and later served at churches in Arizona and Oregon.
In 2016, Josh was diagnosed with MDS, also known as a bone marrow failure disorder.
Josh passed away on May 4. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Erika, sons Noah and Nathan, parents Don and Kim, sister Lindsay, brother-in-law Joel and nephew and niece Kyle and Chloe as they mourn their loss. He will be greatly missed by all.
