On behalf of the City Council, City staff and our entire City family, I would like to adjourn tonight’s meeting in honor of former City Attorney Carl K. Newton.
Carl made a real impact during his 23 years with the City of Santa Clarita – helping early leaders build the City from the ground up. Carl was at the forefront of creating the City we love today.
Carl’s influential career spanned far past this valley though, aside from the multiple committees he served on, he also worked as a Research Attorney for the California Court of Appeal, spent time as a Court Statistician for the Los Angeles County Superior Court, lectured for the City Attorney’s Department of the League of California Cities and was a veteran who served with the U.S. Navy.
Carl was the quintessential definition of a role model and a real-life gentleman. He was able to make life-long friendships here at the City, all while being able to make a difference in the lives of those he came in contact with.
Carl will be truly missed but always remembered for his generosity and his sincere love for his family, friends and all the passions he followed in his life.
Tonight, we remember a friend and thank him for everything he did in serving the City of Santa Clarita.
