We adjourn tonight’s meeting in honor of an American hero.
Cletus Lyle Harris was a selfless community leader and a veteran of the US Air Force.
He was born in 1932 in Bicknell, Indiana. After graduating high school, he married his sweetheart, Dorothy, and joined the military.
Cletus bravely served his country in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1972.
He retired as First Sergeant from the Aerospace Research Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base.
But Cletus didn’t stop there. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the U.S. Post Office for another 20 years.
In all, Cletus gave 40 years of federal service to his country and fellow citizens.
Outside of work, he donated his time to the Elks Lodge. He served as Exalted Ruler of his lodge for four years, and continued to volunteer selflessly until his passing.
Cletus passed away on Wednesday, June 18. He was 82 years old.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 63 years, his son Ronald, his daughter Peggy and six grandchildren.
We thank Cletus for his service to his country and commitment to his community.
